And health freaks have been quick enough to take the cue."I was doing an exhaustive cardio and strength training regimen at my gym but muscles were slowly wearing themselves out. infact, I was seriously prone to injuries," says Rith Karmakar, who's happy with a balanced fitness programme after he switched to power yoga.

Enthusiasts say that power yoga helps to build strength of mind that translates into increased levels of body tenacity as well.Sheeba Seth, a power yoga practitioner for the last five years,says:" I had a freak accident that resulted in a slip disc."
But she has recovered quickly and attributes that to her regular power yoga workout. As part of her power yoga workout ,Seth had been doing back strengthening asanas along with strength training for a long time before her accident.

And if you've been thinking of getting rid of thos love handles but haven't had the heart to go in for a rigorous exercise regimen, power yoga can be a godsend.
There are specific modules devised by instructors that work on your back and stomach muscles making them firmer and strengthening the spine.mogre has core strengthening exercises specifically aimed at the stomach and backmuscles.

Power yoga also helps burn calories and reduces the fat percentage in the body.Meera Vaghani, a power yoga instructor based in calcutta, has also incorporated the navasana and the Trikonasana or side stretches to get rid of precious inches from your waist and abdomen.
"You'll be able to get washboard abs without sweating it out like crazy," says Vaghani.Nisching Singh has included the Navasana and the Ardhanavasana to tone up the abs while the leg raises take care of the thighs.
Power yoga has another great advantage going for it. You need not have prior training to opt for its basic modules.Moger has the beginners,intermediate and advanced levels at her gyms but she insists that one should consult a doctor before enrolling for her workout sessions.
Also people with serious cardiac and blood pressure problems are discouraged from enroling for this workout routine.

Howevere, singh has devised a power yoga module specifically for orthopaedic patients that emphasises on pranayam in which the repetitions of the asanas are slower "This helps strengthen the body without causing injury,"she says.
